It’s all about speed.
You get how 1’s and 0’s are how a normal computer communicates, right? Let’s call those “bits”. Let’s say there’s 8 “slots” that form a command, with each slot being either a 1 or a 0. Only 8 slots can be “sent” at one time, and there’s obviously only a certain amount of 8 bit combinations that can be made with only 2 bits. The speed at which a binary boi computer can calculate thing and stuff is limited by this principle.
Now Quantum Boi? He’s special.
Quantum stuff happens on a really tiny field. It’s so tiny, that physics behaves incredibly weird. It’s so weird, that instead of normally-behaving bits, there are “Quantum Bits”, or simply Qubits.
A Qubit behaves odd, you know because of the whole weird physics stuff. It can behave like regular bits, being a 1 OR a 0, but it also can be both AT THE SAME TIME. Now take those same 8 slots we talked about and now each slot is filled with a Qubit instead of a bit.
The Quantum Computer with its Qubits can communicate waaaaaaaay faster because it’s sending 8 slots of something that can be a 1, 0, or either at the same time. You get a much larger combination that’s possible so therefore faster things and stuff!
(Please keep in mind I didn’t go to college and know absolutely nothing about physics. This is how my brain wrapped itself around the various wiki articles. I really just wanted to differentiate to myself the difference between a Qubit and a bit. I hope I have it right lol)
